From Stress to Confidence: A look back at the verbal jousting seminar

Every year, the INSEEC Bachelor’s premises are the venue for the not-to-be-missed seminar, offering a unique experience for our third-year students. For an intensive week, these future leaders were coached by experts in the art of public speaking, such as actors, directors and comedians. This immersion in the world of public speaking enabled the students to hone their skills and develop essential techniques.

The rules of the tournament are simple but demanding. Two teams compete against each other, each having to select three players. They share the speaking time, with three minutes each, followed by a two-minute exchange once the two teams have passed. Each team has three minutes to prepare its topics and arguments, and is assigned the role of defending or opposing the imposed theme. In addition to the challenge of limited time and the stress inherent in defending a point of view in front of a packed amphitheatre, our students have to combine substance and form to convince the juries and the audience.

At the end of the tournament, our students emerge either as experienced speakers who have mastered the art of public speaking, or as confident individuals who are ready to overcome their apprehension about public speaking. This event is a crucial step in the training of our students, preparing them to excel in the challenges of communication and leadership.
