What is the difference between an Executive DBA and a traditional MBA or Master’s degree?
The Executive DBA represents the highest level of professional training, well beyond an MBA or Master’s degree. Unlike an MBA, which develops general management skills, a DBA trains students to produce new scientific knowledge.
It enables you to transform your professional experience into rigorous applied research under the guidance of recognised research professors. This international training positions you as an academic and professional expert, capable of publishing in scientific journals and influencing management practices on a large scale.
What is the time commitment involved in this training for a practising manager?
The Executive DBA takes place over 36 months, with approximately 576 hours of work combining residential seminars and individual research. The format is designed for working executives: the seminars are organised in intensive sessions lasting a few days, allowing you to maintain your main professional activity.
The pace alternates between periods of group learning and phases of independent research. Your employer can support this approach, as it directly enriches your strategic responsibilities and your ability to steer the organisation’s transformations.
Is it possible to freely choose a research topic for a professional thesis?
Your research topic must be in line with the themes of the programme:
- business economics ;
- economic transitions ;
- technologies ;
- environment ;
- governance.
It must combine a concrete managerial issue arising from your professional experience with an original scientific contribution.
The scientific committee validates the relevance and feasibility of your subject at the admission stage. We then suggest a thesis supervisor with expertise in your field of research, whether strategy, finance, human resources, innovation or sectoral transitions.
What academic recognition does this double degree give to higher education?
The double degree from INSEEC Grande École and the University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas confers the highest academic recognition. It enables you to work as an associate professor or expert in Master’s, MBA or Executive Education courses in France and abroad.
This doctoral training gives you access to teaching-research positions, the management of research chairs or expertise in academic institutions. The DBA is internationally recognised as the terminal degree for professionals wishing to contribute to applied management science research without leaving the corporate world.
