Practical information
How do I get to Barcelona and back to the campus?
Getting around Barcelona
Barcelona has a modern, dense and well-organized public transport network, ideal for getting around easily between neighborhoods, the beach, cultural venues and, of course, the INSEEC campus.
Barcelona’s metro system comprises 8 lines (L1 to L5, L9 to L11) that efficiently serve all the city’s major districts. The network is complemented by numerous bus lines (including night buses), streetcars, funiculars and even cable cars for access to the city’s heights, such as Montjuïc.
Did you know that Barcelona was one of the first cities in Europe to offer a fully automatic metro on its L9 line?
Students can benefit from preferential rates thanks to the T-Jove pass, a rechargeable travel card valid on all modes of public transport in the metropolitan area for 90 days at a fixed price. The card is available up to the age of 30.
The city is also committed to soft mobility, with kilometers of bike paths, safe pedestrian zones and a shared bike service called Bicing, which is very popular with residents and students.
A simple T-mobilitat card (physical or digital on smartphone) or contactless bank card is all you need to travel on the entire network, without having to buy a ticket for each journey. The system automatically applies the lowest fare according to usage.
With a wide range of means of transport, attractive student offers and accessibility to suit all profiles, Barcelona offers a practical, sustainable and pleasant living environment for INSEEC students.
Getting to Barcelona by train
Barcelona is linked to the rest of Spain and Europe by an efficient rail network. The city has two main stations: Barcelona Sants (the main station) and Estació de França, both served by AVE, TGV and regional trains (Rodalies).
- From Madrid, it takes around 2h30 by AVE to reach Barcelona. Valencia is 3 hours 15 minutes away, Zaragoza 1 hour 30 minutes, and Girona less than an hour. These high-speed lines ensure frequent service, even at weekends.
- Rodalies regional trains also connect Barcelona to all the towns in Catalonia (Terrassa, Sabadell, Mataró, Sitges, etc.). This means that students living outside Barcelona can attend classes without necessarily having to live in the city center, thanks to fast, regular journeys.
- Students can benefit from reduced fares on rail and urban transport using the T-Jove card, integrated into the T-mobilitat platform.
