This programme combines oenology, commercial strategy and work-linked experience. You’ll learn how to promote wines, develop markets, negotiate with distributors and enhance the value of terroirs. You’ll develop your skills in wine marketing, export, distribution and sensory analysis, so that you can progress to positions of responsibility in a dynamic industry that is recognised the world over.
Whether you study wine in Bordeaux, the world capital of wine, in Lyon, gateway to the vineyards of Burgundy and Beaujolais, or in Paris, hub of international trade, each campus connects you to the key players in the industry.

Wine Trade and Distribution
Selling products and developing business
Wine sales and distribution are at the heart of the wine business. This course teaches you how to develop effective sales strategies, manage distribution networks and win new customers in supermarkets, wine shops and restaurants. You will learn how to turn wine quality into commercial success.
You will be proficient in negotiation techniques with buyers, customer portfolio management, merchandising and wine category management. You will also learn how to manage sales forces, develop innovative distribution channels (e-commerce, direct sales) and optimise sales margins.
These skills will prepare you for positions as sales director, sales development manager, sector manager or key account manager in wineries, trading houses, distribution groups and international importers.
Wine Marketing and Communication
Promoting products and attracting customers
Wine marketing and communications place the brand and the experience at the heart of the strategy. This specialisation trains you to create strong brand identities, develop wine tourism and tell the story of the terroirs to win over consumers. You will learn how to turn each bottle into a desirable experience.
You will develop skills in branding and estate identity, digital wine marketing, event and tasting organisation, content creation and storytelling. You will also have a good command of wine tourism management, specialist press relations and strategies for influencing opinion leaders and sommeliers.
This expertise will open doors for you as a wine marketing manager, wine tourism project manager, communications manager or brand manager in châteaux, cooperatives, wine groups and agencies specialising in wines and spirits.
Export and International Markets
Conquering countries and extending your influence around the world
Exports and international markets are major growth drivers for the French wine industry. This course teaches you how to identify opportunities on world markets, master customs regulations and build partnerships with international importers. You will learn how to promote French wines abroad.
You will be familiar with export market development (Asia, the Americas, Europe), international wine regulations, logistics and incoterms, and intercultural negotiation. Questions about our Vin programmes
Do you need to be a sommelier or oenologist to succeed in a Master of Science in Wine?
No, you don’t need to have a sommelier or oenology degree to enter the Master of Science Vin. The Master of Science Vin welcomes a wide range of students from business schools and universities specialising in management, law, economics or international trade, who have completed 3 or 4 years of higher education. While knowledge of wine is an advantage, the programme enables students to gradually acquire the necessary oenological expertise.
The courses cover tasting, sensory analysis, viticulture and vinification in an educational and practical way. The aim is to train sales managers capable of selling and promoting wine, not winemakers or oenologists.
What counts most is your commercial sense, your ability to negotiate and your interest in the world of wine and spirits. The experience you gain during your work-study year in different wine-producing establishments will give you a real insight into the sector’s businesses and help you develop a solid professional network with wineries and merchants.
Is it possible to work abroad with the INSEEC Master of Science Vin?
Absolutely. Wine business and marketing skills are in great demand internationally, particularly in fast-growing markets such as Asia, the Americas and Northern Europe. You can do your placements in exporting wineries, international importers or wine groups operating on several continents. Graduates of the Master of Science in Wine work in organisations with a global presence, developing markets in China, the United States and the United Kingdom. New markets are regularly opening up for French wines and premium spirits.
Fluency in professional English is essential for these international careers, ideally supplemented by a third language depending on your objectives. The programme enables you to develop a global vision of the wine business and build an extensive network. The teaching includes practical export case studies that will prepare you to apply for positions with an international dimension as soon as you start the academic year following your degree.
Is wine a sector for the future?
Yes, the French wine industry remains a pillar of the French economy and excellence. Despite the challenges of climate change and international competition, the wine and spirits industry is reinventing itself, with new opportunities in wine tourism, e-commerce and premium export markets. Wineries, merchants and distributors are actively looking for managers trained in the wine trade who can innovate and conquer new markets.
The sector is becoming increasingly professional, with a strong demand for people with both oenological and business skills.
