Being an employment lawyer means working in collaboration with various companies or specialist firms. But to ensure that they comply with all the regulations in force in employment and labour law, employment lawyers first need to master them. So what do you need to know about this profession?

An employment lawyer has a duty to ensure that the internal regulations drawn up by a company comply fully with the Labour Code. It is therefore their duty to detect any anomalies and correct them. Their next task is to ensure that these regulations are complied with.

If a dispute arises between employees or between the company and employees, the social lawyer must resolve the situation using the Labour Code as a mediator. In a dispute where the company is involved, the social lawyer must obviously defend the company’s interests as far as possible.

Being a social lawyer means having a number of responsibilities. However, it also brings with it countless advantages, such as those listed below:

  • a progressive salary commensurate with the importance of the position;
  • an opportunity to work as a freelancer ;
  • the possibility of retraining, particularly in Human Resources.

Apart from all this, it is also worth mentioning that a social lawyer is protected from unemployment, since the profession is still essential to the running of companies, and thanks to his or her knowledge, the social lawyer has the privilege of protecting his or her own rights in the world of work.

A social lawyer ‘s salary is already above the average for HR graduates when they start out. You could earn around €2,300 net at the start of your career. Of course, depending on your seniority and experience, you can expect to earn €3,000 or more later on.

However, the figures are even more satisfactory for freelancers. Although it is impossible to give an average, a self-employed employment lawyer earns an excellent salary per contract. Nevertheless, it is always better to start working in-house, to gain experience and make a name for yourself.
