What is a Bachelor’s degree in Wines and Spirits?
INSEEC’s Wine and Spirits Bachelor’s degree, which is RNCP level 6 certified, trains students for careers in sales, marketing and distribution in the world of wine. The first two years lay the foundations for management, communication and product culture, while the third year enables students to specialise in sales, export and commercial strategy. This professionally-oriented programme prepares students to enter a dynamic sector where know-how, passion and expertise in the field make all the difference.
Professional certification
Level 6 (EU) professional certification for Commercial Activity Managers, NSF code 312, awarded by INSEEC Bachelor, registered under RNCP number 38604 on the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles, by decision of the Director General of France Compétences.
Objectives and skills
The aim of the Wines and Spirits Bachelor’s degree is to train professionals capable of promoting, marketing and developing products from the world of wine in France and abroad.

1ʳᵉ year
60 ECTS credits
In the first year, INSEEC’s Bachelor of Wine and Spirits offers a generalist course combining business, marketing, management and corporate culture. This first stage enables students to acquire the basics of management and sales, while developing a global understanding of the economic and societal challenges of the wine and spirits sector. In addition to the core courses, students will have 20% of specialisation courses.

2ᵉ year

In the second year, INSEEC’s Wine and Spirits Bachelor programme deepens the knowledge acquired in the first year and develops a more strategic approach to business and marketing applied to the wine sector. Students consolidate their skills in management, communication and market analysis, while preparing for professionalisation and specialisation in the third year. In addition to the core courses, students will have 30% of specialisation courses.

3ᵉ year – Core curriculum

In the third year, INSEEC’s Bachelor of Wine and Spirits focuses on corporate strategy, management and project management. Students develop a global vision of business management while reinforcing their operational skills to move into sales, marketing or managerial positions within the wine sector.

3ᵉ year – Export Distribution Specialisation course
This specialisation in the Wines and Spirits Bachelor’s degree trains students in the specific features of international trade, export logistics and marketing of wines and spirits. 3ᵉ year – Wine tourism specialisation course
The specialisation courses complement the core curriculum and enable students to focus on the issues specific to the development, distribution and tourism promotion of wines and spirits. 3ᵉ year – Sommellerie Gastronomy specialisation course
This specialisation in the Wines and Spirits Bachelor’s degree is aimed at students who want to combine product expertise, gastronomic culture and sommelier know-how. It provides training in how to showcase wines and spirits in the worlds of catering, selective distribution and customer advice.

Assessment procedures
The three years of the Wines and Spirits Bachelor’s programme alternate between theoretical learning and practical application through concrete projects, case studies and group work. Each semester is validated by the award of 30 ECTS credits, giving a total of 180 ECTS credits at the end of the course.
Throughout the course, students are assessed on an ongoing basis through individual or group written and oral assessments of their commercial, managerial and technical skills relating to the world of wines and spirits.
In the third year, an assessment leading to certification, based on blocks of skills, is organised in accordance with the RNCP 38604 – Responsable d’activités commerciales qualification. It is based on real-life professional situations:
- case studies and simulations ;
- analysis files and company projects ;
- oral presentations and professional practice dissertations.
Assessments combine continuous assessment and final exams, guaranteeing a regular and comprehensive assessment of what has been learnt. This system helps students to develop their skills right up to the point where they are awarded state-recognised professional certification.
