What is an RNCP qualification?
RNCP is the acronym for Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles (National Directory of Professional Certifications), managed by France Compétences. It lists all professional diplomas and qualifications.
As France Compétences points out, registration with the RNCP determines the quality and value of training on the job market.
When you register with a training organisation, you need to make sure that the training course is officially recognised by the State as enabling you to practise the profession in question.
You can check the recognition of a course yourself at francecompetences.fr

Official recognition
The RNCP title: the guarantee of official recognition
In France, the RNCP qualification has value on the job market. Not only does it allow you to officially validate your skills, it also makes it easier for you to find a job.
If you’re looking to change jobs, or even professions, it will enhance your experience. What’s more, if employers are often looking for qualified profiles, the RNCP qualification is a way of proving your worth and motivation!
The organisations
Which organisations are authorised to award RNCP qualifications?
Not all training organisations are authorised to issue RNCP qualifications. This approval is granted by the State and requires a specific procedure.
In France, more than 9,000 professional qualifications are registered on the RNCP.
Evaluation
How are RNCP qualifications re-evaluated?
To have their professional certifications recognised, organisations and establishments must apply for registration with the Commission Nationale de la Certification Professionnelle (CNCP).
It then assesses their certifications. The certification is valid for a maximum of 5 years (with the possibility of renewal).
All certifications are regularly reassessed to ensure that they meet current requirements.
International
RNCP title: recognition outside France
Whether you’re a student or retraining for a career, obtaining an RNCP qualification is synonymous with recognition of your skills. It’s a mark of confidence that will give your qualification international recognition.
European qualification levels
A common European framework has been found to make the levels of professional qualifications clearer for everyone and to facilitate the free movement of trained people:
- A level 3 RNCP qualification corresponds to the CAP
- A level 4 RNCP qualification corresponds to the Bac
- A level 5 RNCP qualification corresponds to a BTS (2-year higher education qualification)
- A level 6 RNCP qualification corresponds to a Bachelor’s degree, licence or licence pro (3 years’ higher education)
- A level 7 RNCP qualification corresponds to an engineering diploma and a Master of Science (Bac+5).
- A level 8 RNCP qualification corresponds to a doctorate
This gives you the opportunity to pursue your career abroad.
Behind the range of courses on offer are qualifications that are not always recognised. As a result, some students spend many years studying and thousands of euros in vain.
At INSEEC, all our programmes are recognised by the Ministry of Employment or Higher Education.
