In Beaune, it’s impossible not to immerse yourself in the world of wine. The town and its surroundings are full of cellars, estates and châteaux waiting to be discovered.

Estate tours and immersive experiences

  • Hospices de Beaune: the Hôtel-Dieu, an architectural gem dating from the 15th century, offers a historical tour complete with a wine-tasting cellar. An emblematic site, it is also the heart of the famous Hospices Sale.
  • Château de Pommard, Château de Meursault, Clos de Vougeot: just a few kilometres away, these châteaux offer guided tours, sensory workshops and guided tastings.
  • Wine tours by bike or on foot: the Route des Grands Crus passes through famous wine-producing villages such as Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay.

  • Wine & learning” events: several partner wineries are organising introductory tasting sessions for INSEEC students.

  • Le Bout du Monde: a veritable institution, with over 3,000 items on the menu, most of them Burgundy wines. Subdued atmosphere, ideal for after-work parties.
  • La Lanterne Magique: Beaune’s cosy stage for concerts, stand-up comedy and festivals all year round.
  • Le Q Bistrot: cosmopolitan after-work spot; long counter, surprise home cooking, sunny terrace.
  • L’Arche des Vins: chic bar-cave celebrating Burgundy’s great vintages + seasonal tapas.
  • Le QG: lively pub-lounge with table football and cocktails, perfect for stretching out the evening with mates.
  • Le Bistrot du Coin: an ultra-chalet neighbourhood bar where you can enjoy a game of skittles to the accompaniment of live music.
  • Le 66: the must-visit wine bar on the Place Carnot, open until 2am with a non-stop atmosphere.
  • BarBizier: a trendy cocktail bar combining cutting-edge wines, homemade tapas and great music on a festive terrace.

Student parties on a human scale

  • Place Carnot: many lively bars and brasseries in the evening, perfect for after-class parties.
  • Private events in the cellars: several estates organise student parties by invitation (tasting, DJ set, cosy atmosphere).
  • Afterworks organised by the BDE: often in collaboration with local players.

The Hospices de Beaune Auction: a unique event in the world

Every autumn, Beaune becomes the world epicentre of wine thanks to the Hospices Sale, which attracts buyers, winemakers and wine lovers from all over the world.

Held every November in the courtyard of the Hôtel-Dieu, this prestigious auction marks the end of the grape harvest in Burgundy. INSEEC students can :

  • Take part in public tastings throughout the city.
  • Attend conferences and masterclasses on oenology, the wine trade and gastronomy.
  • Enjoy concerts, street entertainment, gourmet markets and an exceptional atmosphere throughout the city.
  • Meet professionals from the sector, who are often partners of the school.

It’s one of the highlights of the Beaune calendar, as well as being festive, cultural and professional.

Move and breathe: sport, nature and walks around Beaune

Situated between hills and vineyards, Beaune also offers students the chance to get active and enjoy nature just a stone’s throw from the city centre.

Sporting itineraries in the heart of the vineyards

  • La Voie des Vignes: a cycle route linking Beaune to Santenay, amidst UNESCO-listed vineyards.
  • Hiking in the Hautes-Côtes: signposted trails accessible from the town lead to magnificent views over the vineyards.
  • Course nature de la Vente des Vins: a friendly running race organised in November, very popular with students.

Sports activities in the city

  • Municipal swimming pool and sports ground: accessible to students at reduced rates.
