What property training can I do after finishing A-levels?

The BTS in real estate is the sector’s flagship qualification. It enables you to obtain the professional licences you need to work on your own as an estate agent, co-ownership manager or property administrator. There are a number of BTS and BUT courses available for students with 2 or 3 years’ higher education, including the BTS in Accounting and Management, the BTS in Notarial Law, the BTS in Negotiation and Digitalization of Customer Relations and the BUT in Legal Careers, with a specialisation in Assets and Finance. A professional degree can be added to these BTSs. In addition, the BUT is a 3-year diploma that allows you to enter the profession or continue your studies at master’s level, business schools or specialised courses.

You can also enrol at business schools or universities to work in the property sector. Universities offer a range of courses, including law, management and property management. Finally, business schools offer a specialisation in real estate, such as the Bachelor’s degree (bac + 3) or the grande école programme (bac + 5).

What property training should I do at lycée?

The BTS in real estate is the main post-baccalauréat course for real estate professionals. It takes place over 2 years and can be done on a sandwich course. These BTS courses are offered by public high schools, but also by CFAs and specialist schools.

Commercial BTS courses such as BTS Négociation et Digitalisation de la Relation Client (Negotiation and Digitalisation of Customer Relations), BTS Management Commercial Opérationnel (Operational Sales Management) and DUT Carrières juridiques (Legal Careers DUT) also enable you to work in the property sector.

What real estate courses are available at university and IUT?

Although there is no DUT in real estate yet, you can opt for the BAC +2 in real estate, the licence Pro in real estate or the BUT in real estate at university or IUT.

Choose the BTS immobilier or BTS Professions immobilières. This gives you a 2-year higher education qualification. Real estate courses are available at secondary schools, IUTs and specialist schools.

Having a baccalauréat is the first prerequisite. However, you must also have a number of qualities and skills:

  • an interest in the property sector;
  • have interpersonal skills specific to the service and customer relations professions and written and oral communication skills;
  • analysis and valuation skills;
  • be able to engage in collaborative work and work as part of a team.

Which real estate course should I take at business school?

You can also go to a business school to train in real estate. To reach positions of responsibility, a 5-year postgraduate degree in real estate is recommended. Graduate schools offer masters courses in law, management or property management. In addition, there are around ten schools that specialise in real estate, leading to degrees at bac + 3 to bac + 5 level. Finally, business schools also offer a specialisation in real estate in the form of a bachelor’s degree (bac + 3), or a grande école programme (bac + 5).

What’s more, the 3rd year course can also be taken on a sandwich course. Students can work in a company and learn in real-life situations. All our final year courses are specialised to ensure that students are ready to go to work once they have obtained their diploma.

At INSEEC, we offer a sandwich course during the 2 years of the Master’s degree: the MSc Real Estate Management. You will sign up for 12 months if the work-study programme is undertaken in the 2nd year, or for 24 months if the same work-study programme is undertaken in the 1st and 2nd years.
