Training
What kind of training do you need in the property sector?
To find out how to take a course in real estate, the best thing to do is to contact the establishment of your choice. In general, you will have to choose between a public university that offers training in real estate and a private establishment that teaches it as a speciality.
The property sector can be the subject of an entire programme at certain business and/or management schools. This is the case with INSEEC, for example. Visit the school’s website to see all the options available, and ask any questions you may have in the FAQ section. You should also look at the possibilities of following either a short cycle or a long cycle.
Bac +2, Bac +3
What kind of short course should you choose in real estate?
When it comes to short courses in real estate, we’re talking about a maximum of 3 years’ higher education. The qualifications obtained may be a BTS, a BUT, a Licence pro or a bachelor’s degree. In the first two cases, you have to spend at least 2 years at the establishment of your choice to obtain a diploma at bac + 2 level.
In the last two cases, you can normally obtain a diploma equivalent to a bac + 3. While the Licence pro is much more professional, the Bachelor’s enables you to build an international career.
In all cases, a short course will enable you to master the basics of real estate and/or related fields. It requires a fairly general education. So choose a short course if you want to get into your first job more quickly.
Bac +5
Long-term training in real estate?
Do you want more specific training and to specialise in real estate or a related field? The long cycle is the best alternative. It requires you to reach a level of study corresponding to a minimum of 5 years’ higher education. This involves taking a Master’s degree from a university or an MSc from a specialist school.
Opportunities
Why choose a real estate course at a business school?
Many business and/or management schools are now offering courses in real estate. There are several reasons why it’s a good idea to join one of these schools. Firstly, you can acquire a degree of versatility and also learn the basics of business and company management.
It’s worth remembering that real estate is an important branch of commerce, and one that is recruiting. That’s why there are specialisations to help you study it and make it your speciality.
Secondly, business schools generally have partnerships with other foreign universities and/or companies. This makes it much easier to find an internship or even a work-study placement, giving you the chance to put your knowledge into practice.
In this way, you have a greater chance of being selected by a partner company and gaining access to your first permanent position.
