What does a sports leader do?
As the name suggests, sports instructors “run” various sporting events and activities. These may be competitions, conferences or any other physical activity where a group of people need supervision. The job of a sports entertainer involves motivating the audience in the physical activity of the moment.
Sports instructors can work in a variety of contexts. You could be a commentator at a competition, or a sports coach in a sports hall. Very often, the sports instructor works towards a very specific goal, such as weight loss or weight gain.
Given what the job of sports instructor involves, you need to be in excellent physical condition to do it. The job involves not only encouraging and leading a group of people, but also setting an example by encouraging them to engage in physical activity.

What training do you need to become a sports leader?
In general, the best training for becoming a sports leader is the BPJEPS or Brevet Professionnel de la Jeunesse, de l’Éducation Populaire et du Sport.
Created in 2001, the Brevet Professionnel de la Jeunesse, de l’Éducation Populaire et du Sport (BPJEPS) is a level 4 state diploma, awarded by the regional academic delegate for youth, commitment and sport(Articles D. 212-20 to R. 212-31 of the French Sports Code).
It trains educators, coaches and sports leaders. The “physical activities for all” option enables you to supervise all types of public, whatever their age, physical condition or state of health.
As well as giving you many of the skills you need to become a sports leader, this certificate also gives you the opportunity to progress. In particular, you can prepare for competitive examinations for the civil service.
