Why decide to reorient yourself during the year?

Reorientation is not a bad thing. Only be certain of your decision to succeed. One of the reasons why students decide to reorient themselves is that their initial training is not suited to their intended career. It is also possible that the course of study was chosen by default or as a result of family pressure.

To save time, it is best to redirect yourself directly after discovering your mistake. In the meantime, you must already have a new professional project. This will be the reason why you need to reorient yourself. In addition, you must defend this project before juries. Feel free to make a list of the benefits that the new training brings to you as well.

Personal reasons may also prompt students to change their course of study during the year. If, for example, they need to work faster because of their financial situation, they should choose a shorter route. Consequently, reorientation during the year is one of the quickest ways to achieve this without losing time.

What if you decide to stop college mid-year?

The division into semesters within the universities facilitates mid-year reorientation. To begin with, you need to prepare a new professional project more in line with your image. Then, the procedures to follow depend on your level. Indeed, the steps to take are different, depending on whether you are in your first year, in a bachelor’s degree or in a master’s degree.

In the first year of the degree, some students decide to continue attending class knowing that they will not take the exam or will not get it. Finding a job in the field you want or starting to look for a work-study program for the following school year may be a more effective strategy for making the most of this time.

If the track you choose is close to the track you originally chose, you do not have to lose a year. At the end of the first semester, you can ask your university to use a gateway. This way, in the second semester, you will have validated another course of study. However, this practice is highly regulated. Only similar channels can complement each other.

There are also establishments that offer staggered or reversed start dates, in February/March like INSEEC. After the first semester, you will still have the opportunity to change your course, this time you are free to choose the course that suits you.

The beginning of the school year in February: a good solution to avoid losing the year?

Also known as the second term, the February term is an opportunity for you to change majors without taking a year off.

Reverse start of the school year at Inseec in Bachelor’s degree

This course lasts 3 years after the baccalauréat. If you are reorienting yourself, you can enter a program directly in the second or third year depending on your skills. You can choose between economics, law, human resources, management, etc.

The February intake of the INSEEC Bachelor in Bac +1, or ” delayed start “This is an accelerated and intensive program.

For entry into Bachelor 1, there is no specialization, the student follows an intensive course in a smaller class which favors even more personalized and individualized support.

The rhythm is intensive as students attend classes from the end of February/beginning of March until July and then continue with a 5-week period in a company from July to August. If the year is validated, they will enter the Bachelor 2 program in September of the following year.

The February intake of the INSEEC Bachelor in Bac +3, or “reverse intake”, is an opportunity for students with a Bac +2 who are reorienting or returning from a gap year. The training is also open to work-study programs.

To enter the Bachelor 3 program, the student begins with several days of basic courses and then continues with the period in the company. It is then in a second time that he will start the training within the school.

For an initial course, the student must complete and validate a 5-month period in a company.

For all students, a professional practice paper will be due in January, followed by the defense and mid-term exams at the end of February.

In the meantime, you will have the opportunity to do internships in companies. Once you graduate, you will already have a first professional experience.

The delayed start of the MSc and MBA programs

INSEEC also offers a staggered start to the academic year for students who are reorienting their studies towards an MSc.

The principle remains the same as the start of the school year is maintained in February for MSc 1st year students (post bachelor or bachelor). Students at this level only have to complete atwo-month internship in a company and then enter the M2 program directly.

For the second year of the MSc and MBA programs, a staggered start is also possible. The students start their studies in March on a school/enterprise alternating rhythm during 18 months.
