Julien Terray is currently studying for an MSc 1 in Purchasing at INSEEC’s campus in Chambéry. He is currently doing a work-study program at ABB in Aix-les-Bains, as a transport buyer. The student-employee talks about his daily work. He details his job with precision.

 After obtaining his baccalaureate, Julien Terray decided to put his studies on hold for a few months to go to Ireland for a year. Back in France, he obtained a BTS NRC in a sandwich course. Then a Bachelor’s degree in transport and logistics at the company Böllhoff Otalu.

Since this year, he has been pursuing his studies in MSc 1 Purchasing on theINSEEC campusin Chambéry.

” Following my various experiences in the world of sales and transport, I have acquired many skills but I lacked those in the field of purchasing, a sector which particularly attracted me. After researching the different programs, I decided that INSEEC’s program was complete and met my expectations as a future professional buyer, presents Julien Terray.

A training that he validates, in parallel, by a work-study within ABB in Aix-les-Bains (formerly Cellier).

” Our company offers expertise in various industrial processes. The industries served are in the field of paper, lubricant, chemical (paint, resin). ABB Aix-les-Bains designs ” turnkey plants ” in the above-mentioned fields. In short, ABB designs the entire plant but supplies only a portion of the equipment it specializes in. “


Transport buyer, on a daily basis, “kezako”?

 The student from Chambéry takes us into his world. In collaboration with his manager, Julien is the daily transport buyer. His role is to help him prepare for future transportation in both administrative and operational terms.

For which missions every day ? Here they are, in detail, point after point :

” I first check the constraints of the destination country. Then, I create the customs invoices with the origins and customs codes to be defined. I then make the customs declarations before choosing a carrier. After creating the purchase orders, I follow up on the deliveries, explains the student, who is passionate about sports, particularly skiing and rugby.

After graduation, he would like to pursue a career as a buyer. Because today is already tomorrow…
