Anaïs, a 3rd year student, is currently doing her end of year internship at Sony Music France for the WATIB label, a company specialized in music publishing. She tells us about her experience.
How did you find this internship?
A. I found this internship by searching on specialized websites; I saw the offer on I-Questa. The ad was also sent to me by the school, a sign that they were looking for a profile similar to mine.
Why did you choose this internship?
I chose this internship for several reasons. First of all, for the transversal nature of the job, which allows me to have a global vision of the company’s activity. Then, the label recently became part of Sony Music, a multinational company specialized in phonographic publishing. This allows me to deal with both multinational and SME issues. It’s a very enriching double vision!
Finally, I am passionate about music, so this internship allows me to mix passion and work. The music business is changing today, it’s very interesting to be part of it.
What are your missions?
This 9-month internship is much more than a simple learning experience! I am developing real administrative and financial responsibilities and managerial skills. My main mission is toensure the administrative and financial functioning of the label. The tasks are therefore very varied and can range from simple invoice processing or payroll to management control on artistic projects!
What advice would you give to your classmates?
For me, the most important thing is to apply to as many offers as possible even if some of them do not always correspond to what you want to do. In reality, if a company takes you on as an intern it is for the added value you can bring to the company and this can extend the position to other unmentioned activities.
I would also advise you to be natural during the interviews, to say what your real strengths are and what skills you want to develop.
Finally, investing in a company always pays off! My internship led to a work-study contract for at least one year. It is for me a great reward for the efforts made.
So don’t hesitate to give your best, it will pay off in the end!
